Ulthera Prime Second In-House Lecture (Aug. 6, 2026)

Hello, this is Dr. Cho Young-min.

It's already been two months.

I successfully(?) wrapped up the Ulthera Prime in-house lecture for Merz Aesthetics that I gave in August, and I'm back.

Ulthera Prime Second In-House Lecture (Aug. 6, 2026)
Director Cho Young-min presents 'Key Observations from Real-World Clinical Practice Treatment of Ultherapy PRIME®' (Aug 6, 2026).

I gave my first in-house lecture in 2024, and two years later I'm standing in front of the staff again.

Having done it once already, I was a little less nervous this time, haha.

In 2025, Merz Aesthetics partnered with 20 dermatology and plastic surgery clinics in Korea to conduct a multicenter, retrospective, observational study evaluating the overall efficacy and safety of Ulthera Prime treatment.

Data was collected for three months starting June 1, 2025. Of the 1,155 patients (who received treatment), a total of 894 completed follow-up at three months.

Of these, 158 cases were collected at our clinic, Cheongdam Anz Dermatology, accounting for 18% of the total, and we reported the largest number of cases among the 20 research institutions.

Just being selected as one of the 20 hospitals is already something.. They must have carefully chosen sites that use Ulthera Prime heavily and use it well.

Being ranked first among them is truly something to be proud of.

I'm going to give myself credit for working hard between treatments to prepare the research materials.

And because we ranked first, I even had the honor of presenting these research results in front of the staff at Merz headquarters..

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity.

Many more people attended the lecture in person than the photo shows.

The lecture opened with the research results, then moved on to a brief reveal of Anz Dermatology's own know-how.

Some people don't see results after Ulthera, right?

There's a reason for every one of them.

The Ulthera device itself is not to blame.

What matters is how it's fired. The most important thing, which I always stress, is “jeongseong,” meaning sincere, meticulous care.

Even with the same 600 shots, 600 shots fired at meaningful spots are never the same as 600 shots fired without thought.

Please, when firing each shot, do not move the tip until the Ulthera shot has fully reached the skin..

Please pass this on to other doctors.

Ulthera can be used not only on the nasolabial folds and deep cheek areas, but also on the bulging area of the lower eyelid.

Rapport with patients is also very important.

When the results are good, rapport often follows naturally.

I know many doctors want to give an in-house lecture for Merz, and I consider it a privilege to have had this opportunity twice already.

I'll try to blog a bit more often....

Life has been so busy that I keep putting it off T_T

It's getting cold, so please take care not to catch a cold, everyone!

Frequently Asked Questions

How was the Ulthera Prime multicenter study conducted?

It was a multicenter, retrospective, observational study conducted in 2025 by Merz Aesthetics in collaboration with 20 dermatology and plastic surgery clinics in Korea to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Ulthera Prime. Data was collected for three months starting June 1, 2025, and of 1,155 patients, 894 completed follow-up at three months.

Is the reason Ulthera doesn't work for some people the device itself?

No. The lecture explained that how the device is fired matters more than the device itself. It also stressed that the same 600 shots can produce different results depending on whether they are aimed at meaningful spots or fired without purpose.

How should the tip be handled during Ulthera treatment?

The lecture emphasized that it's best not to move the tip until each shot has fully reached the skin. The speaker asked that the handpiece stay still during each shot until the Ulthera energy has fully been delivered.

Can Ulthera be used on the lower eyelid area too?

Yes. The lecture mentioned that Ulthera treatment is possible not only on the nasolabial folds and deep cheek areas, but also on the bulging area of the lower eyelid. Specific indication criteria were not described in detail in the article.

What role did Cheongdam Anz Dermatology play in the study?

Cheongdam Anz Dermatology collected 158 cases, 18% of the total, and reported the largest number of cases among the 20 research institutions. The lecture began by presenting the research results, followed by sharing Anz Dermatology's own know-how.
